Day 13: “It’s You” by Shin Yongjae & Luna

Zum deutschen Text

It’s a rainy day in Germany which calls for a calm song for a change. Luna from the girl group F(x) and Shin Yongjae from the ballad band 4Men have collaborated last year for a smooth track called It’s You. Luna has been a big fan of the talented group 4Men since her trainee days, and so singing with one of her idols was a chance she couldn’t miss. Both singers have so strong vocals, so the collaboration was highly anticipated. It’s you was released via SM Station on Youtube. Continue reading

Day 12: “Melt My Heart” by Eric Nam

Zum deutschen Text

Eric clearly melted my heart with that cute little video snippets at the beginning of his MV!! Baby Eric is so shy hopping on his toy horse, ISTG! Korean-American singer-song-writer Eric Nam already warmed our hearts with his sweet vocals in Heaven’s Door, so I’m happy he’s got another track for us. Melt My Heart is an up-beat song and was released as a special single in 2014. In contrast to Heaven’s Door, the Melt My Heart MV doesn’t follow a story line and way more simple. Continue reading

Day 11: “Hide & Seek” by T-ara

Zum deutschen Text

T-ara is a group with many ups and downs. A group pressed into the typical Kpop image, with catchy songs and a lot of autotune. So Hide & Seek does deliver a new aspect to T-ara (even though there is still a lot of autotune), as it presents a nicer view on the girls’ vocals. Hide & Seek is a pop ballad song and a hidden track from the album Again 1977. Continue reading

Day 10: “Winter Wonderland” by Akdong Musician

Zum deutschen Text

There’s nothing better to build up a good mood than Akdong Musician (1,2) swinging in perfect harmony to Christmas carols. The siblings Lee Chanhyuk and Lee Suhyun performed on the 2014 end of the year SBS Gayo Daejeon show, and apart from their debut single 200% they also covered Winter Wonderland. The video above shows their live performance in a fun Christmas setting. Continue reading

Day 8: “A Typical Idol’s Christmas” by BTS

Zum deutschen Text

Christmas is that time of the year to be with your family, friends or lover, and enjoy staying at home peacefully – well, that’s the case for most of us. However, it isn’t for idols and other celebrities, who have crammed schedules which don’t allow them to be anywhere than at work. In their typical manner, BTS has critically picked up exactly this circumstance in their 2013 released holiday song A Typical Idol’s Christmas. Even though the melody is rather bland, (as so often) the rap lines stand out and carry the song’s main message. Continue reading

Day 7: “Walking in the Winter” by Yun DDanDDan

Zum deutschen Text

Singer-song-writer Yun DDanDDan will represent a (sadly still) less known Korean music genre today: K-indie. To those more familiar with K-indie, Yun DDanDDan isn’t maybe the first pick for this genre, as other bands like 10cm, Urban Zakapa, Guckkasten or BuskerBusker have achieved more broad public fame for their music style. However, Yun DDanDDan still keeps up his original naïve busking image as he only debuted three years ago with the label Mirrorball Music. Continue reading

December 6, is Saint Nicolas Day in Germany were children get an extra treat. So today’s holiday collaboration of K-reggae singer HaHa, the bubbly girl group Oh My Girl and M.TySon fits perfectly to the playful mood.

Day 5: “Snow (눈)” by Zion.T (feat. Lee Moon Sae)

Zum deutschen Text

Zion.T has kicked off his comeback on December 4 and I’ve blocked today’s spot for Snow ever since the comeback was announced. Why, because, hey, it’s Zion.T! Snow is so freshly released as I’m writing this post that Wikipedia hasn’t even had the time to change the data on it yet. Continue reading

Day 4: “Some (썸)” by Soyou & JunggiGo feat. Lil Boi of Geeks

Zum deutschen Text

Ok, I’m kind of cheating here: Some by Starship Entertainment label mates Soyou and JunggiGo isn’t really a winter / Christmas track, but rather a spring song. However, there is a special version from the 2014 Music Bank‘s Christmas show which I chose for today. This special stage doesn’t only feature the duo, but also Sistar’s Hyorin and singer-song-writer Jooyoung. Continue reading
