Day 10, December, 2014 (The Winter’s Tale) by EXO

Hier gehts zum deutschen Text

Let’s continue with some soft tunes. EXO annually contributes to the K-pop Christmas playlist almost since their debut. 2014, however, their track seemed a little forced and not well planned. The explanation is easy: it was not a good year for EXO. Even though they still managed to be on top of music charts and on awardshows, they struggled hard with internal conflicts, break-up crisis and image damage. Two band members had quit the group, one during their promotions for their new album and first concert tour EXOPLANET #1 – The Lost Planet. As a result, their was no repackaged album version and the energy was put into a brilliant live performance Continue reading

Day 21, Miracles in December by EXO

Hier gehts zum deutschen Text

Christmas K-pop songs don’t always have to be fun, festive or have a simple concept or story line – this is what SM Entertainment proved with EXO‘s Miracles in December. EXO benefits highly from SM Entertainment poring all their money into their development and their staff’s creative mind. Already having two mega hits in 2013 (Wolf and Growl) EXO continued their success with their first winter album Miracles in December with the same named title track which was released with a music video in Korean and Chinese. As in Day 6, Christmas Day not all EXO members are taking part in singing, but only the three main vocalists Baekhyun, Chen and D.O Continue reading

Day 6, Christmas Day by EXO

Hier gehts zum deutschen Text

Remeber those happy days when EXO was still a twelve member group? Back then in 2013 EXO released their first winter album Miracles in December and Christmas Day was one title presented on the album, and also performed on music shows next to the main title track (which we maybe find later on this calendar 😉 ). While EXO is still a recently launched group they are maybe the most successful group in K-pop since two to three years. Even though older groups are still highly successful, it is really tough to get past EXO. I thought it would be nice to introduce a less known track in this calendar. Less known to EXO‘s standard: Christmas Day made it to Continue reading

K-pop fans can’t pronounce idol names?

I find it fascinating how international fans of K-pop bands still pronounce the names of their favorite members wrongly – although they claim to love them beyond what so ever. Seriously? Have you never bothered looking up how your bias’ name is pronounced? Of course I had difficulties at first too, but I watched one or two videos and listened to how the members called each other and then I had it in a couple of minutes. There is no real excuse for not figuring out their proper names’ pronunciation as YouTube is full of video material of K-pop idols.
