Billboard presented a short list of dog-themed Kpop songs fitting for 2018’s Lunar Year. As you may know, it’s the holidays of Chinese New Year or Seollal in East Asia, ringing in the year of the zodiac animal Dog. I liked Billboards attempt, so I added to missing songs and, as there aren’t many dog-themed Kpop songs out there, I broadad the playlist with four wolf-themed songs. Because, you know, wolves and dogs are related. The mixtures is quite interesting. Idealy, the word “dog (개 /gae/)” or “wolf (늑대 /neug-dae/)” (Korean or English) should be mentioned in the title. Those which don’t, still have an explicit dog or wolf-themed metaphor in the lyrics. In the case of Roy Kim: he wrote the caring lyrics of his own pet Sancho’s perspective. Enjoy!
The countdown begins, only 3 days till Christmas!! To those wanting to get into the mood asap, I activated the Kpop Christmas Calendar playlist for 2017 on YouTube already. Hope your weekend will be even jollier then! The last two songs will be added on their corresponding days. Don’t forget, this year it’ll only have 23/24 songs, because of Jonghyun‘s death. You’ll also find the track list below and the playlist of 2015 and 2016 on my YouTube channel. Merry Christmas! 🙂 Continue reading
If you thought Kpop is all jolly tunes, lovey-dovey music videos and fluffy pastel idols the Halloween season will prove you very wrong! There is quite an amount of dark tracks, mysterious visuals and gory settings out there. Hidden in the deep shadows of Kpop, you’ll find eerie characters like witches, zombies, werewolves, voodoo masters, vampires or ghosts – just to name a few. The audio-visual degree of spookiness is as diverse: playful, harsh, deep to disturbing.
I tried to find a nic— I mean, horrifying mixture for this Halloween playlist to fit anyone’s taste. Some tracks are listed because their title obviously hints the Halloween theme (s.a. BIGBANG’s “Monster”, Grace’s “Trick or Treat” or BtoB’s “Thriller”). Some music videos only have minor fitting elements (s.a. Twice’s “Like OOH-AHH”, 4Minute’s “What’s Your Name?” or ZE:A’s “The Ghost of Wind”), others are a bloody mess (s.a. Cross Gene’s “Black or White”, Vixx‘s “Voodoo Doll”, SHINee’s “Married to the Music”). Some need no gore to give you the creeps (s.a. Sunny Hill’s “Pray”, Xia’s “Flower”, Cho Hyung Woo’s “Someone I Know”), and then there are those which fit the overall mysterious mood (s.a. NCT U’s “The 7th Sense”, BTS’ “Blood Sweat & Tears” or Gain’s “Paradise Lost”). Enjoy!

It’s freaking SNOWING outside!! Like are you kidding be, spring? I’m so ready for warmth and loose clothes and this is what you offer? To get over this nastiness I made a spring playlist on my YT channel to share with you guys which surely has a Korean song listed for everyone who is looking for the cherry-blossom season. No matter if you prefer romantic tunes, classic guitar strings, catchy melodies or longing lyrics, or you’re still somewhat in an after-winter mood or polishing your bike for a picnic in blooming meadows or enjoying those butterflies in your tummy – I’d recommend to give it a go. And even if you want to skip spring and head to summer, you’ll find a track. View the complete playlist order here: Continue reading

As some may know, I’m really bad with liking love songs (which is weird as about 95% of all Kpop songs have no other topic), but there has to be some romantic tune on Valentine’s Day, right? So I decided to share these songs listed on Soompi by making a Valentine’s Day playlist on my TY channel. The order is based on Soompi‘s songs choice and not to my personal peference… but I swear number 10 will make you cry. Happy Valentine’s Day ❤
